Top 7 Men’s Electric Razor Under 100

Because choosing a men’s electric razor is never something very obvious, but also because you may not have the time to spend hours studying the different models that exist, for you we have taken the initiative to test and compare numerous devices. From cheap electric shavers to high-end models, we’ve reviewed all of the most popular devices of the moment, about which we share with you our honest and transparent opinions, with the aim that in the end, you can take your purchase decision in just a few minutes while being sure to make the best choice.

Braun Series 3 ProSkin 3040s

One of the Braun brand commitments is to create reliable and durable products. As such, the Series 3 ProSkin 3040s electric razor is advertised for a minimum lifespan of seven years. This shaver works with MicroComb technology and comes with a power cord to recharge it, a lubricating gel to maintain it, a small brush for perfect cleaning and protection for the shaving head.

For battery life, the Braun Series 3 ProSkin 3040s shaver provides approximately 45 minutes of use, which is equivalent to 12 shaves and a charging time of just one hour. The indicator light indicates battery life. A quick-charge system is also available for five-minute use.

The Braun Series 3 ProSkin 3040s shaver features Wet & Dry technology, so you can shave in the shower or with shaving cream. This is possible thanks to its very waterproof shell. It will also prevent irritation. Its shaving head is equipped with a SensoFoil foil which is intended to give you a close shave.

Braun has made the Braun Series 3 ProSkin 3040s shaver with a rather futuristic design, which makes it look very sleek. It is easy to handle thanks to the relief elements present on its sides, it is covered with a non-slip surface. It is 100% waterproof up to 5 meters deep.

Philips OneBlade

With the Philips OneBlade, you get a high-quality wet and dry shaver that does its job well for relatively low acquisition costs. The compact design and size in particular enable the Philips OneBlade to be handled very well. The small and narrow cutting edge of the blades helps to cut very accurate contours and there are no limits when trimming a longer beard.

The Philips OneBlade did a good job of both wet and dry shaving. However, you should be aware that the skin is not 100 percent smooth and the razor cannot keep up with the classic wet shave (but it comes very close!). However, where the razor has significant problems is with very hard beard hair. Here, one of our test subjects really had to struggle with the shaver and the whiskers kept getting stuck in the device when shaving, which led to severe tugging and skin irritation – no pre-treatment or shaving foam helped here either.

However, if you have normal or soft beard hair, you don’t need to worry about this – the shave worked very well there and was surprisingly gentle on the skin. It is important that you get used to the blade and always shave against the direction of growth. Once you get the hang of it, the result will be good, although you have to shave more often in some difficult areas. We had the impression that the dry shave worked a little better than with shaving foam. The razor is cleaned simply under running water, which is also really practical.

As for the accessories, we particularly like the trimmer attachment on the Pro models. This can be variably adjusted via a wheel and even a short 3-day beard is no problem. The body shaving attachments are not really necessary in our opinion. If you are careful when shaving, you can get along well without the attachment.

A shortcoming of the Philips OneBlade is the relatively high cost of replacement blades. In our test, these lasted about a little over 3 months. Since the package consisting of 2 blades costs around 20 euros, you should consider this before buying.

If you choose a Philips OneBlade, we recommend the cheaper Pro version. Here you get a much better battery compared to the slightly cheaper versions and the trim attachment for only 50 euros. Since the actual cost factor is the replacement blades anyway, it is better to spend a little more when purchasing the razor.

All in all, we can recommend the Philips OneBlade shaver. We particularly like the variable use of body shaving, beard trimming, wet and dry shaving.

Braun Series 5 – electric foil shaver 5050cc

The Braun Foil Razor is another excellent razor model that effectively and thoroughly removes facial hair without over-stressing the facial skin. There are a total of three shaving elements that make up the razor head. They can all be moved in many directions and the FlexMotionTec system with which the blades are equipped ensures that little pressure has to be exerted on the skin when shaving in order to cut particularly short. The CrossHair blades also help with a close shave, as does UltraActiveLift technology, which lifts the hair before cutting.

Lots of functions and a special design – so every shave is quick and effective. The design of the dry razor ensures ergonomic handling and you hold the razor securely and non-slip so that nothing can go wrong. Since the shaver is 100 percent waterproof, you can use it in the shower or at the sink just as well.

The battery is powerful and, when charged, provides energy for about an hour of shaving time. The battery is also charged in about an hour. Together with the Braun shaver you get a charging and cleaning station. It is the world’s only four-tier alcohol-based station. This ensures that the shaver is clean and well cared for and will serve you well for a long time.

Philips S3510/08

The Philips S3510/08 rotary shaver offers simple, convenient and comfortable shaving at a very affordable price. This shaver is designed to work corded or cordless. Use the power cord to shave while your device charges. When it’s charged, you can shave cordlessly.

In terms of battery life, you’ll get around 50 minutes of battery life, or around 17 shaves, from a 60-minute charge. You can also choose to shave with the shaver plugged into the mains.

If you have skin prone to irritation or razor bumps, the smooth movements of the rounded head contours allow for a skin-friendly shave. Indeed, the heads fitted with “ComfortCut” blades with rounded edges glide perfectly over the skin to protect it from cuts and scratches.

The flexible heads perform 4 independent movements to adapt to all the curves of your face, to facilitate shaving, even in the neck and jaw area. To complete your look, you can also use the pop-up trimmer, ideal for grooming mustaches and trimming sideburns.

In terms of maintenance, the Philips S3510/08 has a one-touch opening that makes cleaning easy. Simply open the buds and rinse them thoroughly under running water.

On the other hand, no accessory is supplied with this razor.

Remington XF9000

Remington XF9000

The Remington XF9000 Electric Foil Shaver is a nice model in black and silver colors. It is one of the least expensive models marketed by Remington.

Waterproof, this razor allows you to shave in the shower, with or without foam. It is equipped with a lithium battery which offers 60 minutes of autonomy for 90 minutes of charging.

In terms of shaving performance, the Remington XF9000 guarantees you a very clean result without effort. The “LiftLogic” blades are designed to shave in all directions (multidirectional blades) to catch the hair from the root, for optimal results.

In addition, the “Constant Contour” technology guarantees maximum comfort. The flexible grids gently retract to adapt to the curves and perfectly fit the shape of your face.

In terms of accessories, the razor comes with a storage pouch.

Philips S1310/04

Philips S1310/04

The Philips S1310/04 is the ultimate electric shaver for everyday use. It has a 4-way flexible head that allows you to shave at any angle. Thanks to Close-cut technology, this device is ideal for a perfect shave and removes hair as effectively as a razor blade.

Its rotating shaving head is also its strong point, which allows you to shave properly and facilitates the elimination of hairs that grow in different directions. It is also very ergonomic and easy to use and suitable for all beard and facial hair types.

In terms of autonomy, the Philips S1310 / 04 electric razor allows about 11 shaves, that is to say at least 35 minutes of autonomy. Thanks to its lithium-ion battery, which is powerful and efficient, the charging time is 8 hours. A charge indicator will help to check the autonomy. This razor is easy to handle especially when it comes to cleaning.

It comes with a small cleaning brush and a protective cover. The Philips S1310/04 shaver is designed to work only cordless. Always unplug before shaving. Like any device, the Philips S1310 / 04 razor has drawbacks, it is not washable under water and it lacks an essential tool for male shaving: the retractable trimmer.

Philips S5400/06 Aquatouch

Philips S5400/06 Aquatouch

Philips has marketed a star electric shaver from the 5000 series range. The Philips S5400/06 Aquatouch electric shaver will perfectly meet the expectations of men looking for a quality device. What draws our attention to the case of the Philips S5400/06 Aquatouch electric shaver is indeed all the technologies that incorporate this shaver.

The Philips S5400/06 Aquatouch electric shaver features Smart Touch technology for a precision shave on all contours of the beard and is composed of several MultiPrecision blades for a quality shave without damaging or irritating the skin.

Also note that the Philips S5400/06 Aquatouch electric shaver has a rounded head that helps protect the skin for shaving and 5-way flexible heads to make it easier to go around the contours of your face.

For its autonomy, the Philips S5400 / 06 Aquatouch electric shaver offers a use of 45 minutes for a charging time of approximately one hour. A quick charge also enables a shave of at least five minutes.

The device being perfectly equipped and waterproof will reveal its full potential outside or under the water of the shower. With the Philips S5400/06 Aquatouch electric shaver you no longer need a shaving foam and can use your shaver without wetting your skin, which saves time.

Why buy a cheap electric Shaver?

The market for electro-beauty products is full of countless models of inexpensive electric razors, so why go broke for a device offered at more than 500 euros?

High-end razors are not for everyone, although they are known for their durability and performance.

The best solution is to invest in a cheaper electric razor that does not require us to spend all our savings on a single purchase.

By making this choice, we have the advantage of saving some money to buy other essential accessories, such as spare blades, shaving foam and why not an electric trimmer?

Opting for a cheap razor is also a wise choice because it is a device with a limited lifespan. So, you might as well buy one at a reasonable price if you know that one day you will always have to buy a new one.

Indeed, you should never neglect the quality of a razor even if you are looking for one at a low price. Failing to choose a poor-quality device, you will inevitably be disappointed with the shaving results.

This could be due to the blades being poorly sharpened, the device not having good ergonomics, being very difficult to handle or even unusable on hard-to-reach areas of the face.

So be careful to choose your device carefully, because a badly made razor could cause you serious skin irritations.

What Are Things That Make A $100 Electric Shaver Worth It?

Choosing the best razor model is not easy when faced with many offers on the market.

Our advice will be to go through a comparison of models and prices that will allow you to easily find a good cheap electric shaver under $100. The latter will offer you a detailed result concerning all the technical characteristics that will make the difference between several models of razors.

Shaving system

The differences in the shaving system affect the speed and closeness of the shave, as well as the types of applications that the razor is particularly suited to. As explained in the previous section, you can use the rotary razor to quickly remove hair from large areas. Foil razors, on the other hand, are better suited for details and difficult areas. A gentle shave without skin irritation can be achieved with both systems. But there are other variations.

Rotary razors usually have three shaving heads arranged in a triangle, but they can differ in the type and speed of rotation. With foil razors you will find shaving heads with five, four, three or two shaving foils. Individual models have a single vibrating shear blade instead. Normally, a faster and more thorough shave is achieved with more blades, but the lavishly equipped devices are expensive to buy and to maintain.

Flexibility

For a comfortable and thorough shave, the razor must adapt to the contours of the face. The flexibility of the shaving head determines how cuddly it is. With their movable shaving heads, rotary razors are particularly suitable for protruding areas such as the lower jaw and chin. But with the flexible shaving head of a foil razor, you can get into small areas like under your nose better. However, some cheaper foil shavers have a rigid shaving surface, with the entire head tilting in up to two axes, depending on the model. That doesn’t have to be a bad thing, as the immobility gives you more control for fine-tuning. The best solution depends on your own face shape and razor handling preferences.

Battery

For our list of the best, we have discussed the weighting of the rating categories in detail. The biggest back and forth was in the battery measurement. In our test, no model shaved less than 40 minutes at a time. Since a repeated smooth shave takes five to ten minutes, depending on the colleague, there is hardly any risk of having to pause in the middle of the shave, especially thanks to timely battery warnings. In the worst case, a shaver will fully recharge after 90 minutes.

All batteries in the test were of the Li-Ion type. So unless you’re using your razor to shave your facial hair for hours stepping through and getting in shape every day with the included trimmers, you shouldn’t worry about the battery life – not even when you’re traveling. However, the batteries can lose capacity over the years. Accordingly, our battery rating is only included to a small extent in the final rating.

Waterproof

If you use the electric razor in the shower or even with foam for wet shaving, the device should of course be waterproof. Many manufacturers state that their razors are suitable for wet shaving, but not all models carry an official IP certification. The IP class “IPX7” stands for protection against temporary submersion in up to one meter of water – enough for a shower or bath. If you want to be on the safe side, you can look for such a label, but for branded products, the indication “waterproof” should normally be sufficient. However, this is not always the case with poorly manufactured cheap devices.

Transport

lock If you take the electric razor with you when you travel, the cordless device should of course not switch itself on when you are carrying it in your pocket. If the device comes with a hard case for storage, there should be no unintended activities. A protective flap covering the on/off switch performs the same function. Of course, it is better if you can activate a key lock on the device itself, so that it does not even react to incorrect operation.

Accessories

The accessories included with electric razors usually come from one of three areas: A length-adjustable attachment can turn the razor into a beard trimmer. This usually does not replace a real beard trimmer, but is sometimes helpful for styling. Various care accessories are also widespread, at least a small cleaning brush, but sometimes also cleaning agents and oil. Some high-priced devices even come with a cleaning station that the shaver can be plugged into. The last category includes storage and transport: A soft case is standard, but sometimes you can also get a stable hard case. If a protective flap is included, it can be placed on the shaving head to prevent damage or soiling.

Spare parts

Finally, you should also pay attention to how expensive and readily available spare parts for the razor model are. The blades in the foil or rotary shaving head are wearing parts. They usually last a year and a half or two, but then they should be replaced. And the more expensive the razor itself is, the more expensive the replacement parts are. A replacement shaving head can cost 20 euros but also up to 50 euros. Other wearing parts are the attachments or the power cord.

Foil or Rotary Shaver: Which Is Best for a $100 Budget?

There are two types of electric shavers: foil shavers and rotary shavers. The most common are foil razors with their elongated shaving heads. There is at least one, but often several perforated shaving foils. The beard hairs get into the tiny little holes and the vibrating shearing blades below cut them off.

Rotary Shaver:

The rotary razors, on the other hand, use three shaving units, each with a round blade. They are arranged in a triangle to each other and are often flexibly mounted individually. Philips in particular is known for this type of razor, but Remington also has such models in its portfolio, for example.

The flexibility of the rotating heads and the triangular shape of the shaving head offer the advantage that the shaving units adapt better to the shape of the face. Especially the angular chin and lower jaw areas can often be shaved better with it. Many users also point out that they are faster with rotary shavers because they shave larger areas. In addition – and our test can confirm this – they vibrate less and are significantly quieter.

Foil Shaver:

Foil razors, on the other hand, are a bit more powerful, which is also expressed by louder humming and stronger vibrations. They are better suited for contours such as sideburns and small areas such as under the nose. The rotary razors cost us a lot of time and a lot of nerves trying to cleanly work on these areas. They simply lack precision, because with the three rotating heads you never know exactly where the razor is actually shaving.

However, the quality of an electric shaver cannot be judged solely on the basis of the design – especially given that every user prefers one or the other system for individual reasons. Most make an early decision on one of the two designs and stick with it for a long time, sometimes for life – it’s a kind of fundamental decision like “wet or dry?”

Wet Shave vs Dry Shave: Which is Best for You?

The decision to wet or dry shave depends on several factors. Both methods have their advantages and disadvantages. Many appreciate the fact that dry shaving with an electric shaver is quick and easy. Even a daily shave does not take up too much time. In addition, the dry shave is also gentler. Especially with uneven skin, the risk of injury is lower. This is mainly due to the fact that dry shaving is more superficial. Even if the skin is initially smooth, hair stubble will quickly reappear.

Wet shaving with an open blade goes straight to the surface of the skin, the hair removal is much more thorough, leaves hardly any stubble and the smoothness lasts longer. But this requires a lot of effort: lathering, shaving, and rinsing between washes cannot always be done quickly during the morning toilet. In addition, the blade can cause minor and major injuries on bare skin and thus irritate the skin. The perfect wet shave, therefore, requires practice, especially if you are struggling with uneven skin. There is no ideal method of shaving.

If the electric razor is waterproof, it allows wet shaving. Wet shaving with an electric razor sounds like a great compromise, but in fact it only increases comfort. Using the electric razor with foam or underwater is more comfortable, but less thorough than both wet shaving with the blade and pure dry shaving. In addition, the result is difficult to assess because of the foam when shaving. Wet shaving with an electric shaver is only really recommended for easily irritated skin.

Manual razor or Electric razor? Which One to Choose?

There are two schools and it is difficult to decide between them. The manual method remains to this day the best solution for a perfect result. The blades of the hand razor are in direct contact with the skin, which makes it possible to cut the follicle as closely as possible and to obtain an impeccable result. This perfection requires technique and sustained attention to the risk of ending up with nicks and cuts.

The electric razor benefits from advanced technologies that allow you to approach perfection. It is more practical than a traditional razor, and does not require foam/gel or even water to rinse your face. Its blades, placed behind a grid, limit the risk of cutting yourself. It is often necessary to make two passes for a nice finish. The electric razor is more expensive to buy than its mechanical counterpart, but it is more economical over time since it is not necessary to replace the blades as often or even to buy shaving foam.

If you prefer to stick with the manual razor, you won’t go wrong choosing the Gillette Mach3.

How do you clean an electric razor?

In order for your razor to work properly, you need to clean it. The easiest way to clean your shaver is to rinse the shaving head under running water. However, there are a few more things you need to do to thoroughly clean your razor. We will explain to you in just a few steps how to clean your shaver.

Step 1: Turn off the shaver

First, make sure your shaver is turned off. A logical step, but a very important one. It may all look very safe, but a razor works with razors. Before you know it, you cut yourself.

Step 2: Unclip the shaving head

Then open the razor. To do this, click the shaving head unit out of the handle. On a Braun-bladed razor, you do this by pressing on the sides of the shaving block. Then pull the block out until you hear a clicking sound. With a head system, this is often done via a button on the front, after which you have to apply force to the hinge. Then make sure the blades and cap are held together. These adapt to each other over time.

Step 3: Brush the head clean

The next step is to clean the shaver head with a brush. Such a brush is often included. If you lose it, you can simply use an old toothbrush. When cleaning a foil system, you should be careful not to scrub the shaving foil with the brush. That would damage the foil.

Step 4: Lubricate the blades

Are all parts clean? Then you can lubricate the shaving head. If you’re using a cleaning spray, you’ll need to spray the liquid onto the shaving foil. If you have lubricating oil around the house, you can gently apply it to the shaving foil. If you use another liquid, place the shaving foil in a container with a mixture of this liquid and water for a few minutes.

Step 5: Assemble

After cleaning, lubricating, and drying the inside and the shaving head, put everything back together. With a head system, pay close attention to the correct assembly of the cap that attaches the rings. They only fit one way. When the shaving head is clicked into the handle, the shaver is ready for use again.

Conclusion

For many, shaving your beard is something that is already part of your daily life, for others, it is just a momentary change of look. Whatever the reason you decide to shave your head, you should choose a machine that meets your expectations. Just as you check each and every feature of your razor, take care of your scalp with a razor that allows you to cover the entire surface of your head without leaving any area behind.
