6. Braun Series 3 3090cc- the most complete of the 3 series
Our 3rd alternative comes from the Braun Series 3, but is more expensive than our prize winner from the 3 Series. The Braun 3090cc convinces with 3 sensitive shaving elements and the very skin-friendly MicroComb technology with many micro vibrators.
The precision trimmer on this model is larger than on other Braun devices and is primarily intended to shape the sideburns. It is also suitable as a wet and dry razor Braun .
It is also practical that we get a Braun Series 3 cleaning station in this still affordable price range. Anyone who previously had to do without it because the Braun Series 7 or 9 is too expensive can now look forward to it. The cleaning station is designed to eliminate 99.9% of all germs, which can drastically reduce long-term inflammation from wet shaving.
Only the battery performance decreases by 5 minutes compared to most other Braun competitors.
Customers also think that this model from the 3 series is absolutely successful. It simply shaves reliably. Only when the hair has grown too long does it allow itself a few weaknesses. The battery performance is very strong over many years and the shave is done quickly (with short beard hair).
However, the ability to shave contours is quite weak. So if you wear a beard, you have to bring enough time and rest with the precision trimmer so that the result is acceptable. Unfortunately, it sometimes even happens that the charging station is defective. In the case of complaints, however, numerous customers report that the customer service from Amazon and Braun worked perfectly.
Good shave Fast shave Waterproof Precision trimmer Chic look Cleaning station Good value for money.
Cutting beard contours is problematic Cleaning station is prone to technical defects/malfunctions.
7. Brown 740s- for shaving very short hair
We took a close look at the Braun 740s in our cordless razor test. It comes from the 7 series and is priced in the midfield. The most significant trademark is probably the AktiveLift & OptiFoil technology, with which even the shortest hairs are gently lifted and cut off close to the skin. We also have Braun Sonic technology here again, with 10,000 micro-vibrators that work in turbo mode to capture more hairs at the same time.
You also benefit from 5 individual basic settings that adapt to your shaving and beard type. These include: Extra Sensitive, Sensitive, Normal, Intensive, Turbo.
Of course, this model is waterproof and can also be used as a wet razor.
The reviews on Amazon mostly agree that the Braun 740s does its job satisfactorily. The handling is very simple and the shave is quick and easy. However, sometimes customers have complained that despite the sonic technology, you have to shave over an area several times for a truly flawless result. It can help if you wet or showered the beard hair beforehand.
Smooth shave Fast shave Good battery performance Fits well in the hand Waterproof Price-performance ratio in order
With a thick beard, it is often necessary to shave over it several times. The charging cable is quite loose in the shaver.
What types of Braun shavers are there? difference between the individual series
This Braun brand has been a benchmark in the world of shaving for a long time. For this reason, we show you the best offers of the best rated Braun beard or body shavers in terms of value for money:
Braun Series 9: Probably the best shaver on the market

Technical specifications:
Waterproof: Yes
Battery operation: 60 min
Number of scissor elements: 5
Vibrations per minute: 40,000
The Braun Series 9 is really expensive, but also simply very good. With the latest generation, Braun has taken another step forward (while the Series 7 , for example, got significantly worse).
The advertising gives the impression that shaving is so much fun with the current models and that you’re practically done after one puff. Of course that’s not the case – but with the Series 9 you at least get closer to the dream.
The shaving performance is very good, but even here you sometimes have to go over the same spot several times. In addition, as with all other electric razors, you should pre-trim longer beards with the trimmer. Nevertheless, the Series 9 performed really well, especially on my difficult areas in the neck area. In terms of shaving performance, it’s really one of the best I’ve had in my hand so far.
The skin protection is even more convincing. I think I have “normal” skin which, as expected, was irritated after shaving. While it really hurt with some devices (especially the new Series 5 ) and I “had to” use aftershave, there was hardly any skin irritation with the Series 9.
The scope of delivery, battery, etc. are also simply convincing.
Conclusion-Expensive but worth the money
We have been testing the various models from Braun for years. And as in the last test, the Series 9 was able to assert itself again – but only just: The Series 8 (see below) is a good alternative within Braun. We even made a video just comparing the Series 8 to the Series 9, but in the end it all comes down to current price.
If the Series 8 (live price here) is more than 50 euros cheaper than the Series 9 (live price here), then you should buy the Series 8. If the prices are closer together, then I would rather go for the Series 9.
Braun Series 8

Technical specifications:
Waterproof: Yes
Battery operation: 60 min
Cutting operations per minute: 40,000
Shaving elements: 4
A look at the packaging gives an idea that the Braun Series 8 is a really “hot device”. But the packaging is of course only secondary, what counts is the shaving performance and the usability in everyday life…
Basically, the device is great to hold thanks to the robust housing. The shaving head is fully dynamic and the precision trimmer can also be extended in no time at all – these are really great advantages, especially during shaving.
In terms of shaving performance, the manufacturer Braun has finally convinced us again, after our verdict on the 5, 6 and 7 series was rather modest. The Series 8 leaves a visibly better result because very little to no hair is left after the shave. A 1-2 day beard can also be completely shaved relatively easily. Especially in connection with the precision trimmer, the end result is actually always satisfactory, since you can use it to readjust some problem areas or pre-trim the beard to a length that is comfortable for the shaving head.
In addition, the device is waterproof and the lithium-ion battery provides sustained, strong power.
Conclusion
There really isn’t much bad to say about the Series 8. Of course the price is a big deal, but you’ll be much happier with the overall product than mid-priced products like the Series 7. If you prefer a more affordable device, please don’t make the mistake of compromising with the Series 6 or Series 5. The performance of both series is not really better than the Series 3, even though they are much more expensive.
Hence our recommendation: reach for the Series 8 without hesitation or alternatively the cheaper Series 3.
Braun Series 7

Technical specifications:
Waterproof: Yes
Battery operation: 50 min
Cuts Per Minute: Yes
The old Series 7 was the epitome of a good product. Good value for money, great shaving performance and many innovations. Unfortunately, the Series 7 has undergone a major overhaul and many changes have been made. To the detriment?
Purely in terms of price, the Series 7 is aimed at all those who have high demands. The design is very striking and the ergonomics are also very convincing thanks to the fully movable shaving head. While that’s all well and good, what about shaving performance?
In fact, I was very disappointed with the shaving result. Especially because the old Series 7 was sometimes the best the market had to offer. Although the shave as such is quite pleasant, one or two irritations appear afterwards, while a few hairs remain. You should never let your beard stand longer than 1-2 days, otherwise shaving will be very nerve-wracking. Only with the precision trimmer can you do some preparatory work and bring the beard to a length that the shaving head can handle well.
While there is a difference compared to the Series 3, it’s not big enough to justify the huge price difference.
Conclusion
All in all, the combination of the fully articulated shaving head, the nice design and the average shaving performance makes the Series 7 an exciting range. So can I recommend them? No not true!
From a purely price point of view, it is much more worthwhile to go for the next higher Series 8, because here you get an improvement in shaving performance that is completely adequate for the high price.
Braun Series 6
Technical specifications:
Waterproof: Yes
Battery operation: 50 min
Many, many positive reviews! But what is striking is that a lot of these come from customers who have had the device sent to them free of charge. Of course, this carries the risk of misleading the consumer. So how good is the Series 6 actually?
Probably the most important upgrade to the Series 5 is the dynamic shaving head, which moves forwards and backwards during the shave and thus adapts to the contours of the face. Also included is an attachable precision trimmer.
Of course, as far as shaving performance goes, I have to say that no electric shaver can “ get the perfect shave ”. And so the Series 6 has its problems with beards that have been growing longer than 1-2 days. Ultimately, the result is better than with the Series 5, but a decent shave requires several passes – and that, of course, affects the skin. After all, the result can be improved a little by preparatory work with the attachable precision trimmer by making the actual shaving with the shaving head easier.
This is simply not enough performance, especially for the high price. Somewhere you could call the Series 6 a meaningful gap between the Series 5 and Series 7, but that doesn’t mean it’s worth the money. The only positive thing is actually the whole “trappings” such as packaging, design, battery and wet & dry function.
Conclusion
Precisely because the Series 6 is in the three-digit price segment, it did not convince me. The problem is that the Series 5 or Series 7 aren’t really any better when it comes to shaving performance either, so you should either go for the cheapest Series 3 model or go for the top-of-the-line model (Series 8 or 9). It’s basically a question of budget.
Braun Series 5

Technical specifications:
Waterproof: Yes
Battery operation: 50 min
Shaving elements: 3
The Series 5 immediately caught my attention because the customer reviews were very mixed. Some love the product, others find it overpriced or simply too bad in terms of skin protection and shaving results. So what does Braun’s mid-range series have to offer?
An important feature of the Series 5 is the stationary shaving head, which is equipped with 3 shaving elements. This doesn’t make the shaving effort quite as dynamic as the Series 6 or 7, for example, but it’s doable.
The end result is much more important and here I have to say quite clearly that the Series 5 disappoints. Compared to the cheaper Series 3, it is no better and – in my opinion – even more skin-irritating!
Of course you can influence the result better by pre-trimming the beard with the precision trimmer, but the bottom line is a device that is simply not worth buying.
The only positive thing is the battery, which, as a lithium-ion model, guarantees high power even after many months or years. The device is also wet & dry-compatible and can therefore be used in the shower, but it is not possible to charge it during use.
Conclusion
I see no real reason to recommend the Braun Series 5. From my point of view, it makes more sense to go straight to the Series 3, which is firstly cheaper and secondly even more gentle on the skin. On the other hand, a model from the absolute top class like the Series 8 or 9 would only be worthwhile because the shaving performance is noticeably better there.
Braun Series 3

Technical specifications:
Waterproof: no
Battery operation: 30 min
Shaving elements: 3
The Series 3 from Braun is clearly one of the entry-level models in terms of price and scope of delivery. The main feature of the series is the “minimalist” shaving head consisting of three shaving elements, with the middle trimmer being equipped with a modified mesh surface. This not only looks very chic, but also has the advantage that whiskers can be separated in different directions.
When it comes to shaving, the Braun Series 3 delivers exactly what you would expect from an entry-level model. “Completely smooth” is only possible with extreme patience and fairly irritated skin. However, I have to say that no electric shaver can achieve a 100% smooth result – advertising often promises far too much.
The difference between a Series 3 and a Series 9 , for example , is that the Series 3 is not quite as gentle on the skin and yet has significantly more problems with longer beard hair. A little tip: just shave as best you can with the precision trimmer and then continue working with the shaving head. This makes the shaving head’s work easier and leaves an even smoother result.
It is also important to know for everyday use that the device cannot be used while it is being charged.
Conclusion
Of course, the Braun Series 3 is not a technological top class; but she doesn’t want to be either. For the price, it is ideal as an entry-level device, especially since the mid-range Braun series (5, 6, 7) don’t really do any better when it comes to shaving performance. On the other hand, you get noticeably better shaving results in the 8 and 9 series, but then you have to pay 4-5 times the price.
Braun cleaning station – with or without?
Before we get bogged down in the details, let’s put the conclusion first:
The Clean & Charge Station gives you an extra dose of luxury by taking the hassle out of cleaning and caring for your razor. It is a convenient feature that saves you work and time.
Of course, Braun’s alcohol-based cleaning station cleans better than pure water. But if you are more pragmatic or creative, you will do without the cleaning station and buy cartridges and buy ethanol or another disinfectant solution in the pharmacy. The use of compressed air has also proven itself.
What should you consider when buying a braun cleaning station?
You need to replace the special Braun cleaning cartridge about every four weeks. Cost factor: just under $5 in a value pack.
It doesn’t work here without your help either:
- The cleaning liquid is passed through the shaving head and carries the impurities from there into the cartridge. Therefore, you should pre-clean the shaver manually to remove the coarsest particles.
- Each Braun series has its own cleaning device. For example, the Series 7 cleaning station only fits Series 7 shavers. It is not compatible with the Series 3, 5 and 9. So if you already own a Braun shaver with Clean & Charge and want to switch to a different series, you cannot continue to use your old station.
- Cleaning stations only work with shavers that are originally sold with c&c stations. (Recognizable by the “cc” in the name). So you have to be clear before you buy whether you need a station, because Braun Series devices that come from the factory without c&c cannot be retrofitted later.
- When you travel, you will clean your shaver yourself. The Braun cleaning station was designed for the home. In addition, it is so big that nobody takes it in their luggage voluntarily.
- Manual cleaning of a Braun Series requires patience. If you want to save on the clean & charge station, you should care for the clipping system with a drop of oil every week.
- When cleaning manually, you must remove the Braun shaving head and let it dry before putting it on. Make sure it is correctly seated. If the shaver runs with a tilted shaving head, you can damage the device.
How to know which Braun shaver to buy
In general, Braun seems to me to be a brand more geared towards sensitive skin. Shaving foils cause less friction than rotary heads and the results are quite similar.
In any case, here is a brief review of the keys to choosing a Braun shaver that suits what you need:
You will get more accurate finishes, especially on the chin and chin, with those models that have mobile or pivoting heads. Braun shavers, unlike Philips shavers that have a rotary system, have a foil head, and all these blades move, but only from Series 6 onwards do the heads also have movement.
Regardless of the range, Braun shavers are characterized by a good weight/size ratio. However, if you don’t have much practice with this type of shave, the Series 5 shavers are among the lightest and most manoeuvrable.
All Braun shavers offer the option of fast charging in 5 minutes that gives for one shave, so you will never be left hanging. But if autonomy is something that worries you especially because you spend a lot of time away from home, the SmartCage is a case with wireless recharging that is available from the Series 8, and increases the number of shaves available by up to 30%.
If you don’t want to make a huge investment, the Series 6 and 7 are already a good option for smooth shaves. Their heads provide mobility and protection.
It is one of the weak points of the brand. Original Braun spare parts are easily found, but they are very expensive. You can save almost half by buying compatible heads, but you will sacrifice quality results. Luckily, the heads have an average life of 18 months, so you end up paying for them.
A Brief History of Braun- Responsible for smooth skin since 1950
The Braun company was originally founded by the engineer Max Braun in 1921 as an apparatus construction workshop and initially produced capacitors and transformers, and later radio receivers. After the war, only flashlights could be manufactured in the factory facilities, which were almost completely destroyed by air raids. In 1950, Max Braun began producing the first electric shaving foil shaver, the “S 50”: This was the start of the Braun company’s rise.
The shavers in particular contributed to the company’s increase in sales. After the death of their father, the sons Artur and Erwin Braun initiated a new corporate culture in 1951, the result of which was the “Braun design” with the central design principles of simplicity and functionality.
In 1966, the Gillette Company became aware of the great success of the Braun razors and made a takeover bid. The Braun brothers accepted the offer to ensure the growth of their company. Since 2005, the Gillette Company, and with it Braun, has belonged to the US group Procter & Gamble.
Key factors in a Braun shaver: all about the Braun shaver
The innovation and constant reinvention of its designs have made Braun one of the favorite brands of thousands of satisfied customers. Its shaving technology far outstrips other brands vying for market leadership. Its construction is resistant and attractive and when performing a deep shave, it creates a much more durable and pleasant finish.
Braun is a reference when we talk about engineering applied to personal care. With patents such as the AutoSense system and the inclusion of state-of-the-art accessories, having a Braun electric shaver is synonymous with stability and safety during shaving.
From its Series 3 models to the most recent Series 9, you will find efficiency and versatility to achieve the best result.
Braun Shaver Sonic Technology
Sonic technology is the small micro-vibrations with which the blades move to cut hair.
Without being exactly the same as the power, it is comparable. And it gives you an idea of the performance that the shaver can have.
The motor is capable of moving the sheets up to 10,000 times per minute.
If you multiply by the number of sheets you get the number of cuts that the shaver is capable of making.
This is an exclusive technology of the high ranges (S9 and S8):
- Braun series 9 – SyncroSonic™ technology with 40,000 cross-cutting actions per minute.
- Braun series 8 – SyncroSonic™ technology with 30,000
What advantages does synchronous technology have?
Synchrosonic technology allows shaving to be more effective and smoother.
The vibratory movement of the blades cuts the hair almost without you noticing.
The blades can move more than 160 times per second so you can’t even see it with the naked eye. This makes it easy to cut hair without pulling.
However, this much power can be a drawback when the beard is sparser. Too much load on the skin is not only unnecessary, but could irritate it.
The solution is AutoSense technology, as you will see in the next section.
Braun Shaver Autosense technology with 32-bit chip
AutoSense technology turns the shaver into a smart machine. Braun shavers that have it know what power you need in each situation.
If you have a lot of beard, they detect it and send the information to the motor, which is thus used to the fullest.
Instead, when the beard is thinner, they adjust the microvibrations so that the shave is smooth.
In the end, it is about processing information . And for this you need a processor, which in the case of the high ranges (S8/S9) has an advanced 32-bit chip.
Auto sense technology advantages:
The beard sensor is included in other ranges of foil shavers from Braun (and other brands).
It is more and more frequent in the intermediate ranges, although since it does not have a 32-bit chip, it will always be less precise when it comes to adapting the power of the motor to the amount of beard.
Braun electric shaver blades
No matter how much technology an electric shaver has, the ones that are going to cut the hair in the end are going to be the blades and trimmers.
In a Braun shaver head there are 3 types of elements to distinguish:
- Sheets – are the ones that rush the hair. They have holes that catch the hair, and blades that cut it from below.
- Trimmers – take care of the hair that is most difficult for the foils (long hair, the one that is stuck to the skin or the one that grows in different directions)
- Protection sheet – its function is not to cut, but to help make the shave smooth, favoring glide over the skin.
In the 9 series, you will find 4 cutting elements + 1 protection blade, while from the latest generation 7 series (S7), they all have 2 blades + 1 central trimmer.
The composition of the shaving head of each range is as follows:

The difference between Braun S9 and S8 is that the former has a titanium trimmer for difficult hairs . This translates into a better hurry in the same passes.
Braun S8 has the same head as the previous Braun series 7.
The latest generation of Braun S7 no longer has the protection foil, although that does not mean that it has lost smoothness during shaving, as you will see below.
Braun shaver head- How does the flexibility of the head influence when you shave?
One of the main problems when shaving with an electric razor is exerting too much pressure.
If the blades don’t fit the contours of your face well, the blades don’t come into contact with the skin, forcing you to apply more pressure.
A smooth shave is achieved when the foils and head adapt to the skin with ease. That is, when the head is very flexible and the blades float independently.
There are currently 4 types of heads on Braun electric shavers:
10D head
Cutting elements (blades and trimmers) float independently on a pivoting head.
We speak of 10 D because the number of head elements is multiplied by 2, which are the two directions in which the head pivots as a whole
The Braun series 9 have it.
8D head
It has the same structure as the 8D head. The difference is that it has one less trimmer than the Braun series 9 head.
360 Flex Head
It is a new design that separates the head from the body of the shaver so that freedom of movement is maximum.
It comes to compensate for a certain disadvantage compared to other brands, which have traditionally had greater head mobility.
Other brands such as Philips or Panasonic have long ago designed completely flexible heads. Finally Braun already has this technology in some of its shavers, such as the new S7
Also, each foil floats independently, making for a smooth shave.
Sensoflex head
In the S6, the head is flexible, and the blades are floating. It has a good adaptability to contours, although it does not reach the level of the 360 Flex head of the Braun series 7.
The head pivots back and forth, but not sideways.
Easyclean head
The head is rigid, although the machine adapts well thanks to the fact that the blades float independently.
The advantage is that it is not necessary to remove the blades to clean it. Thanks to flaps that open when you rinse the shaver, hairs are easily removed.
Braun Shaver Accessories
Modern shavers are becoming more versatile every day. It is increasingly common that the same machine is used for more things than to shave the beard, and trim the sideburns.
The trend is to grow a beard, even occasionally, and to alternate days with a longer beard, with others in which it is preferred to have a completely shaved face.
Braun has been modernized. The new generations of shavers (S7/ S6 / S5) are compatible with removable attachments , which with a simple click turn the shaver into a beard trimmer, a trimmer, or even a body epilator.
Along with these accessories, you have the classic versions of the higher ranges, which only have the typical pop-up trimmer.
Easyclick accessories
The traditional trimmer or trimmer has disappeared from the new models of the 7, 6 and 5 series.
Braun, following the line set by Philips, has decided to improve the versatility of its shavers with accessories that are easily placed instead of the shaving head.
- Beard Trimmer – for 0.5-7mm beards
- Precision trimmer – for sideburns and mustache (included in all models with beard trimmers)
- 3-day beard trimmer – 0.25 -2.3 mm
- Body epilator – to wax any area of the body
- Cleansing brush – to clean the pores of the face
Note: The precision trimmer, which is essential for trimming sideburns, is not standard on all models.
Cleaning and charging base
The cleaning base is an accessory that is included in some models of the different series.
In the higher ranges (S8 / S9), the shavers come with a chip to connect with the cleaning and charging base. Therefore, the cleaning base cannot be purchased separately.
In the medium ranges (Braun series 5 / 6 / 7), the same cleaning station is compatible with all of them, and is sold separately.
Cleaning bases come with different cleaning programs that vary slightly depending on the model.
Clean & Charge Pro | Clean & Charge | SmartCare |
Select cleaning intensity | Clean | Clean |
Clean | Slippery | Slippery |
Slippery | Charge | Charge |
Charge | Smart program selection |
The programs allow you to do a thorough, normal, or shorter and more economical cleaning.
In the cleaning stations, cartridges are used that are an alcohol-based solution that cleans more hygienically than water.
The cartridges are compatible with any cleaning station.
The price of the cartridges varies depending on the pack, but it comes to cost around $6 per unit, and they last for 2 months.
Braun has the best clean-back shavers, and has managed to set itself apart from the competition in this regard.
Advantages of the cleaning station
With the cleaning base you ensure a set-up of the shaver. Not only does it load, but it hygienically cleans as well as lubricates the blades and foils.
The advantages for you are:
- Convenience – at the touch of a button you get the shaver ready for the next shave (clean, charged and oiled)
- Better close – clean foils and blades cut hair better, and cut longer, without the need to change them.
- More hygienic – if you have sensitive skin, you avoid skin problems caused by a dirty and germ-filled brush head.
Braun Shaver Design and display
Braun currently has two basic templates defined in its shavers.
As you have seen, for the high ranges, the format is much more classic, while the new series are thinner and the head appears completely separate from the main body of the shaver.
In the high ranges, elegant and sober colors predominate (silver, graphite, chrome or black). As you go down the range, razors can have more vivid colors (blue, red)
In addition to the colors, the screen becomes important, since on it you will find all the information necessary for the correct operation of the shaver:
Screen pro Braun S9
Battery status
Reminder to charge the shaver
Travel insurance
Blade Replacement Indicator
Cleaning indicator (models with stand)
It is important, how the machine tells you the remaining battery. There is a big distance between the countdown with the last minutes (s9 and s8) and the 3 indicators of the basic ranges (S6 / S5)
Braun series 7, shows a vertical bar, very intuitive and precise, since at a glance you will know how many shaves you would have available.
A full charge gives you up to 3 weeks of shaving on the Braun S7

Braun shaver battery
The battery is important in these shavers, which only work without a cable.
It is the price that must be paid for being able to use them in the shower, for wet shaving, or for the ease of cleaning them under running water.
The batteries are lithium (with some exception of the 3 series), and have a range that varies between 50-60 minutes. They also support a quick charge of 5 minutes, enough for a punctual shave.
The most effective brand for your skin care
When it comes to an optimal shave, one of the most relevant elements is whether or not there is irritation. With Braun ‘s technology you should not worry about this, since they have used hypoallergenic materials to provide a good close-up and fresh and soft skin. It’s not just about good design and construction, it’s about a safe shave and a reliable head.
Its reliability is evident when making dry or wet shaves, since its rounded edges are designed to generate comfort for users with sensitive skin who are looking for a powerful tool that combines care with precision.
Philips Vs Braun- Which shaver is better and why?
Braun and Philips are the two great references in the market for electric shavers. These are two brands with a long history and both are characterized by being at the forefront of the sector in quality and innovation.
The suitability of each brand does not depend so much on the razor as on the user. Depending on the characteristics of your skin and your shaving priorities , you will feel more comfortable with a Braun or a Philips.
This summary of the most outstanding features of each brand will help you determine which type of shave best suits your expectations:
Braun works with the foil shaving system. The head is elongated and is made up of three or more pieces cut in a straight line that emit thousands of micro-vibrations per minute.
Foil shaving is more precise and closely resembles using a manual blade. But it offers a lower level of adaptation to the lines of the face. However, foil shaving is kinder to delicate skin because there is less friction.
Original Braun spare parts are usually a bit cheaper and easier to replace. Many of the spare parts are compatible between models of different series and there is a wide market for white brands of lower quality, but at half the price.
Philips shavers are characterized by rotary heads. This type of shave provides greater ergonomics when moving around the face, providing a better finish in less accessible areas such as the chin or neck.
The hair cut is not transverse. The three rotors of the head cut the hair during the rotation of the blades and it allows to treat many different types of hair, with growth in various directions. They are usually a better option for those who do not shave daily or are in a hurry: with the rotary system, a larger cutting surface is covered.
Philips blades have a high price. However, the half-life is somewhat higher than those of Braun. In the end, by time or by price, the cost is amortized in both cases.
What do Braun and Philips shavers have in common?
Both Philips and Braun work with product lines that range from the most basic models to advanced technology shavers in which there are practically no differences in quality, only personal preferences.
Both brands offer wet and dry shaving options , even in the low ranges, and the possibility of automatic cleaning and lubrication of the shaver from medium ranges. In this sense, it is noteworthy that Braun uses alcohol-based products that dry faster and Philips uses detergents that take a little longer to dry, but the results are identical.
If you are determined to abandon traditional shaving and save time and money with electric shavers, buying a Braun or Philips model is always an investment in quality.
What to look for in a good Braun men’s electric razor?
There is so much to choose from, so the question is: what to look for? Everyone wants a close shave, so see how precisely the razor will cut through those pesky beard hairs.
Speed is very important, especially if you usually shave in the morning. Don’t waste time with obsolete machines and get a quality result in less time than with other brands.
Braun shavers can be very technologically advanced, follow the contours of your face and do all sorts of fancy things, but they also offer a range of simpler shavers, so get an idea of what you might like.
Advantage
The Braun brand mainly manufactures blade razors, which protect the skin from irritation. We already know about its quality, but apart from this it offers models with rechargeable batteries, for wireless use, among other functions. Let’s go ahead and see its advantages.
- Does not irritate sensitive skin.
- Wireless, with rechargeable battery lasting 45-60 min.
- Best quality close-up in areas where hair is uniform and skin smooth.
- It is used in dry and wet.
- Best shave hairs that grow in the same direction.
Disadvantages
Foil shaver giant Braun offers a wide range of these. In each one it incorporates functions or system that perfect the shave. Also some accessories that add finishing elements to the shave.
But, apart from its benefits, its less favorable points should be mentioned. Those that in some cases become very little or are surmountable.
In this sense we can mention that the noise that this machine makes to move the blades can be a little higher than the rotary ones. But we guess it’s not hard to beat.
- They are usually noisier than rotary ones.
- May not reach hard to reach places.
Cleaning tips for your Braun shaver
The Clean & Charge system means you just push the shaver in, press the button and put it down. It will clean, dry and lubricate your shaver automatically. Very hygienic to prevent razor burn but needs occasional oil refills.
You can clean almost all Braun shavers under running water. A drop of soap will help. Cleaning in this way does not replace lubricant, so be sure to occasionally lubricate with the brand recommended by Braun.
Removing the cutter head and cutter block should be very easy to clean with a brush. When it’s clean, turn the razor on for a few seconds to clear the mechanism and bring dirt to the surface.
A cleaning spray will help you clean your razor thoroughly by making residue easy to remove. Spray, leave for a minute or two, then rinse.
Braun razors at the Stiftung Warentest
At the Stiftung Warentest, Braun shavers are real series test winners. In every shaver test carried out by the testing institute since 2007, a Braun device has emerged as the test winner. Specifically, it was devices from the Braun Series 7 that convinced the testers in the tests. The shaving result was particularly convincing. The skin-friendliness of the Series 7 shaver was also rated above average.
Most recently, Stiftung Warentest tested shavers in the 09/2021 issue. With the test winner Braun Series 9 Pro 9465cc, another device from the Braun family won. With the overall rating Good, the razor was particularly convincing in terms of skin protection, handling and durability.
The most important questions and answers about the Braun razor comparison
It is to be hoped that when you go to a physical store you can clarify all your doubts. In fact, ask all the questions you have. Well, when buying online we should have the same opportunities, not just asking. In addition, being able to compare with the questions of other buyers.
In this way we have included in this section, the most frequently asked questions by users. That they come to complete the guide that we want to offer you, so that when you buy you do it safely.
But let’s get started and see what the unanswered questions are about Braun trimmers.
These Razors Do Not Irritate The Skin?
No, in fact they are recommended for sensitive skin. Well, its blades are arranged in such a way that it hardly makes contact with the skin.
Can It Be Used On The Body?
In this brand they are generally for facial use, although there are models for body use.
How often do I need to change the blades on Braun shavers?
Braun recommends replacing the blades on its shavers every eighteen months. This is the only way to ensure optimum operation of the device. The entire block of the head, blades and knives is replaced, as they work at the same time, and therefore wear out to the same extent. Each model requires a specific replacement. Prices range between 25 euros for a Series 3 head and 55 euros for a Braun Series 9.
How long is the warranty on a Braun razor?
The question of the guarantee is always a question of goodwill on the part of the retailer. The legislator provides for a guarantee of two years. However, this can also be regulated differently in the purchase contract.
If there is a defect in the device within the first six months, the dealers are usually accommodating, since there is a reversal of the burden of proof during this period. This means that in the first six months after the purchase, the retailer must prove that the defect did not already exist before the purchase.
The cost of this is usually greater than the cost of replacing a device. You can find the necessary Braun razor spare parts in specialist shops – both locally and online.
How long does a Braun shaver take to charge?
Braun shavers are equipped with a powerful battery. This is charged within 60 minutes. You can shave cordlessly for up to 45 minutes on one charge . Therefore, the battery often lasts about a week before it needs to be recharged.
How do I open a Braun razor?
If you have to change the shaving head of the Braun razor, you usually have to operate a sliding latch. We strongly advise against opening the shaver housing, for example to carry out a repair yourself. On the one hand you lose all warranty claims by opening it. On the other hand, there is always a risk of electric shock when opening electronic devices.
Braun electric shaver – conclusion
Even if we are not Stiftung Warentest, we made an effort! Our Braun shaver test lasted several weeks, so we were able to get really deep into the matter.
We have written our own detailed article for each series and posted it on our own subpages. There you will find detailed product descriptions our Braun shaver test.
You can expect a gentle yet thorough shaving performance from all Series. Even if the differences are not serious, you notice a difference between the smaller Series 1, 3 and 5 compared to the Series 7 or Series 9. In terms of value for money, however, only the Series 3 and Series 7 convinced us, which is why we recommend this to you.
The cleaning station is a nice extra that saves you time and work. If you do without the station, the purchase price is usually reduced by 40-50 euros. However, you should always compare the prices, as we have observed some incomprehensible developments here.
We hope that we have advised you to your complete satisfaction with our review in 2022 and would be happy to receive any comments!
