Reasons Why You Are Not Growing Beards on Cheeks Yet

Reasons Why You Are Not Growing Beards on Cheeks Yet

Well, before going to suggest how to grow beards on cheeks, it is important to tell you the reasons or factors that are responsible for making you wait for your desired beard growth. Here are some of those factors:

Beard Growth Start Age
Generally speaking, when puberty hits a man around the age of 13 to 15, the beard starts to grow. No matter how much you try to grow a beard before the right time comes, it will lead you to nowhere. However, the prime phase for beard starts at 25 and ends in 35 when you get your cheeks full of healthy hair without much effort.
Low Hormone Level
If you are a man with higher testosterone, you are likely to grow a beard quicker and with ease. If you have a low testosterone level, the opposite happens. Though a high level of testosterone may trigger issues like acne and hair loss, we can by no way decline the necessity of a good level of testosterone hormone to promote beard growth. Get a hormone test done to see the level of testosterone hormone in your body. If you have any hormonal imbalance that is one of the most possible reasons you are not growing beard on cheeks.
Deficiency of Vitamins
Beard growth thrives if you are taking enough nutrients with your food. First of all, you have to maintain a balanced diet comprised of fish, eggs, meats, and nuts. Leafy greens are helpful. However, the most important vitamins that contribute to hair growth are vitamin B and E.

So, make sure that you are taking foods that contain these vitamins adequately. If you are unable to do so, you are supposed to take multi-vitamins.

Genetical Cause
Genetically speaking, If your father was not a man with a face full of beard, you would likely grow less beard and the beard growth will be slow. However, the exception to this also happens. Nonetheless, the gene and one’s lineage have something to do to determine the length of the beard and the growth ratio of it.
Seasonal Influence
Are you trying to grow a beard in winter? Studies show that during the winter season, the beard growth is slower than ever. So, do not worry if you are expecting to grow the beard in winter and it is not growing as per your expectation. You would be delighted to know that the situation is reversed in summer, especially when it’s July. So, you better wait for the right season than worrying about it so much.
Variety in Origins
Believe it or not, your origin and race are important factors that influence beard growth on cheeks. Greek and Italians enjoy the advantage of growing facial hair quite easily while the Latin Americans, Native Americans, and even Asians find it difficult. It might be the influence of food habits, climate, and other geological factors that work behind this difference.

How Long Does It Take For Beard Growth?

Though it depends on a variety of factors like genetics and testosterone hormone, you can usually grow a full beard in two months if everything goes fine and you are in the right age. However, this time is not the same for everyone. Some may grow quicker than this and some may need more time. Usually, you can grow as much as 0.5 inches of beard a month.

The Stages of Beard Growth

The Stages of Beard Growth

There are three stages of beard growth:

  • Anagen Phase
  • Catagen Phase, and
  • Telogen Phase

Anagen phase may go for several months and even up to a year. The beard growth is not like the growth of scalp hair which is easier to grow. However, at this stage, you may experience a growth of 1 cm per month and up to 12 cm in one year.

During the catagen phase, your beard growth pauses for a few weeks. After this interval period, you reach into the next phase.

The last phase or telogen phase is associated more with the transition of hair follicles than the new growth of beard. Similar to the catagen phase, no beard growth is seen at this phase. When the old follicles finish the duty and withers away, new follicles grow. This occurs repeatedly. This is a cycle that runs for 4 months.

So, that’s how the beard grows slowly and ends up being full-grown in three phases.

How to Grow Beard on Cheeks: The Natural Approach

Before going to introduce you with beard growth products, I am going to share a list of natural ways that you should try first if you want to accelerate the growth of beard. It is best if your beard starts to grow naturally after changing your food habit, sleep duration or other natural approaches like these.

Here are the things you should care about if you desire for the covering and shiny beard on cheeks:

Being Realistic
1. Being Realistic

Do not think yourself doomed for failing to grow beard on cheeks. Rather, dig deeper and ask yourself questions. The first question you should ask yourself is have you waited long enough? Usually, you may not get your beard even if you are in your early 20’s. And again, you might get a beard on other parts of the face but cheeks, because it takes more time.

So, you should wait for at least 3 months after your beard growth to give it time to reach and cover your cheeks.

On top of the age and waiting period, your genetics influence your beard growth. Analyze family history by asking your parents and grandparents. Try to know about when and how did they grow their beard, especially on cheeks.

Trimming Too Often Doesn’t Work
2. Trimming Too Often Doesn’t Work

There is a popular myth that trimming your beard too often, and even every day can promote beard growth. Nothing can be far scientific than this belief. No evidence supports the claim that trimming the facial hair on early-stage helps to grow a beard. It rather makes the situation way worse.

When you are just starting to grow a beard, it might look like a wild forest. This is the time when your beard grows without following any rules and styles. Do not try to manipulate the natural growth by trimming it too early. Allow enough time to grow. You will have plenty of time after a few months to trim or shave as much as you want and as stylishly as you can.

For the first month, just leave it alone and let it grow spontaneously like a bunch of daffodils. However, in case you feel any rashes or itching during this time, we recommend you using hydrocortisone cream to the area you are experiencing so.

When your beards have passed 6 weeks and they have reached a good shape of around 1 cm and more, you can think of shaping it to your heart’s content. Now, you can trim or shave it as they have become mature enough.

Massaging and Exfoliating
3. Massaging and Exfoliating

These are two effective ways to let your beard grow as they help the flow of nutrients and hormones into the hair follicles. Blood flow in the cheeks is not as stronger as it flows to the other parts of the face. Face Massage and Beard Exfoliation work great to increase the blood flow on your cheeks.

When it comes to face massage, you do not need to spend hours on this. Just spend 5 minutes per day and you will be glad to see the change. While you massage on the face in circular motions, keep the cheek area on focus. Apply gentle pressures by your palm and fingers on that part.

Beard exfoliation is ideal for removing the dead skin cells and unclogging the pores on your face. Exfoliate the skin under your beard by your fingers. It is better if you can do it daily with a beard brush.

Washing and Moisturizing
Washing and Moisturizing

Keep your face clean. Make sure that the pores of the skin are open to promote the growth of the beard. Wash your face at least twice a day, especially when you get home from work or outdoor activities. You can also choose Amla or Lavendar oil or Alovera to apply gently on your face.

Leave it alone for 20 minutes. And then rinse with cold water and dry the face with a clean towel. Keeping your skin hydrated and moisturized is a great plus point for the acceleration of beard growth.

Maintaining a Balanced Diet Enriched with Vitamin B, A and E
5. Maintaining a Balanced Diet Enriched with Vitamin B, A and E

The foods you eat have a direct impact on your body and well-being. Junk foods or fast foods are not going to help you get a shiny beard as they have nothing to contribute to the hair growth process.

You have to choose a balanced diet enriched with vitamin B, specifically vitamin B-complex and Vitamin E to accelerate the beard growth.

Try avocado, egg yolks, lobster, duck, milk and other foods that have Vitamin B5. You should also try Vitamin B3 as it ensures good blood circulation in your face and thus helps to grow beard on cheeks. However, it works better if you take it along with 2.5mg of biotin every day.

Vitamin A is also important as it increases sebum production which is essential for keeping the skin and hair follicles hydrated.

Don’t underestimate the power of protein to grow facial hair on cheeks. Take enough sea fishes, eggs, and beans.

Oh! I have forgotten to mention one important thing! Please don’t forget taking enough water if you are aiming for healthy beard growth.

Exercising Regularly
6. Exercising Regularly

Move your body as much as you can as it helps balanced blood circulation and thus works positively for hair growth of any kind. No matter whether you choose jogging, cardio, cycling, roping, swimming or anything else, just make sure that your hard rate is up.

Exercising 40 to 60 minutes a day is enough for you if you are not obese. Choose staircases instead of elevators when you are indoor. Choose cycling or walking for a short distance when you are outdoor.

Enlist exercise in your routine and turn it into a habit. You will be amazed by seeing the change and how it helps your beard growth at the end of the day.

Sleeping Tight
7. Sleeping Tight

When its night, don’t forget to sleep tight. Other than ensuring a healthy body, sleep contributes to growing hair. As proper sleep of 8 to 9 hours a day triggers more testosterone in your body, you are likely to get the feeling of growing a beard on your cheeks soon.

Sleeping is also important to help your body functioning properly which repairs the dead skin cells and affects your overall health. However, do not sleep randomly as it does not work. Schedule a time as you do for other work. Go to bed and get up from the bed at the same time every day maintaining the time.

Saying Goodbye to Stress
8. Saying Goodbye to Stress

No matter what happens, the prerequisite of growing the healthy beard is keeping yourself stress-free. Stress is one of the reasons responsible for hair loss.

Be patient about beard growth. Do not worry about it thinking when you will get it. To lower your stress, you can talk with friends and family and spend time together. Breathing exercise and Yoga can also help in this regard.

How to Grow Beard on Cheeks: The Modern Approach

Science has gone so far and there are some modern beard growth products out there that are getting popular day by day. Here are some of the modern products that can help to grow beard on cheeks:

1. Minoxidil
1. Minoxidil

Minoxidil is the most ground-breaking beard stimulator invented so far. Some Thai researchers applied 3% minoxidil on men’s faces and discovered that it works significantly both for growing new beards and increasing the existing beard growth. That’s why many doctors suggest for minoxidil 3% lotion for treating patients who are facing difficulty in growing beard.

However, though it has some side effects as other products do, it is getting popular worldwide. This is my favorite Minoxidil Foam for hair regrowth. I’ve seen many people getting amazing beard growth after using this foam.

2. Beard Cream or Oil
2. Beard Cream or Oil

Beard Cream and Oil are also widely used nowadays. Beard oil and Beard cream help those people who have reached the right age and trying to maintain the right lifestyle but yet cannot grow a beard, especially on their cheeks.

Beard oils are enriched with the vitamins and proteins required for your beards. They help to eliminates the itchiness and helps your beard stay out of dandruff once they begin to grow. Being available in scented and scentless forms, most of the oils and creams contain biotin and minoxidil as active ingredients. If you are looking for a good beard oil that actually does the job, I’ll highly recommend BEARDOHOLIC.

Beard Oil Vs Cream: What Is The Difference And Which One To Choose?

Beard Oil Vs Cream: What Is The Difference And Which One To Choose

There is no much difference between beard oil and beard cream. Both of these contain almost the same ingredients. What you choose depends more on which one is more comfortable for you to use.

However, when it comes to moisturizing your skin better, beard oil does it better. It keeps your face hydrated for long that beard cream does. Beard cream is just a good alternative of beard oil go provide you with a matte finish.

To be honest, you are at liberty to choose either beard oil or cream to get your work done.

Final Words

Though growing a beard on cheeks is no brainer and not so difficult task for many, it is complicated and hard for others. It requires patience, effort, and a healthy lifestyle to accelerate beard growth.

We hope that you now know how to grow beard on cheeks from the guide we have given above. May you succeed in this mission of growing beard.
